Case Study

UniDose™ Package

The challenge

Our customer was concerned with the open bottle stability of 3 months for a QC product with two years of shelf life. The problem was that customers were attempting to use the controls well beyond the open bottle stability, as the shelf life indicated the product was still usable.

The idea

Tom first investigated a range of plastic vials but determined that evaporation would result in significant shelf life reduction. Tom identified foil as a far better alternative but this was an unconventional application that had not been previously employed for quality controls.

The solution

Tom led the effort to identify and then develop a solution using a unique foil package now known as UniDose. The scope of the project included sourcing, installing, and validating the necessary manufacturing equipment to support large-scale manufacture.
