Case Study

Multiple inserts

The challenge

Bio-Techne (formerly Bionostics) was asked to support the transfer of a product line that utilized multiple inserts in one box, requiring manual insertion. This manual process was inefficient and costly to support and was the most significant obstacle to completing the transfer.

The idea

Bio-Techne (formerly Bionostics) realized that we could best achieve cost reduction for our customer by utilizing our automated packaging machinery for the inserts. This would require resolving the multiple insert issue but consolidating them into one or two pieces was not an alternative.

The solution

Bio-Techne (formerly Bionostics) engineering staff identified a solution whereby the individual inserts were glued or "tipped" together so they could work with our automated machinery. They then designed and implemented the necessary modifications to support the glued/tipped inserts. Nydia is responsible for ensuring that each job requiring multiple inserts is properly set up and executed.
