Case Study

Batch planning

The challenge

Bio-Techne (formerly Bionostics) offers its customers a great deal of flexibility in production planning while also ensuring the lowest possible product costs. Meeting these goals requires aggressive inventory and production planning capabilities while proactively reviewing customer forecasts to identify potential supply issues or demand inconsistencies.

The idea

Bio-Techne (formerly Bionostics) anticipated the need to implement a system to support production planning needs as our business grew. Identifying a capable enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and recruiting a skilled planner were key priorities for Bio-Techne (formerly Bionostics).

The solution

Bio-Techne (formerly Bionostics) implemented a state-of-the-art ERP system several years ago. Aaron Whipple was recruited to utilize the advanced planning features of this system to support the aggressive cost and production timelines we offer our customers. Aaron utilizes both historical and forecast data to determine the best possible plan for production.

Aaron Whipple, Planning & Inventory Control Supervisor

Aaron served in enterprise resource capacities at New England area manufacturing facilities for more than twelve years before joining Bio-Techne (formerly Bionostics) as an inventory and production planner in 2006. Aaron is the primary planner for Bio-Techne (formerly Bionostics) production activities.
